Sandy Amerio was born in 1973 in Paris. She lives and works in Berlin. She studied film directing at Le Fresnoy, Studio National des Arts Contemporains in France. In her work, she initiates confrontations of contemporary society with the aesthetic codes and issues that circulate within it. Her films reveal the deeply heterogenous and violent nature of our realities, reflected in their representations. In an anthropological approach, she creates based on narratives and images that are parts of the collective unconscious.
She showed her films and videos worldwilde (Berlinale, Cinémathèque de Montréal, FID Marseille, Centre Georges Pompidou, Tokyo Wonder Site (Tokyo), Mac Val Museum (Vitry-sur-Seine), Guangdong Museum of Art, V-Tape Gallery (Toronto), Centre for Contemporary Art NCCA (Saint Petersbourg), Center for Contemporary Art (Tel Aviv), Festival de Cannes (French Ministry of Culture selection), International Film Festival (La Rochelle)...among other.
