Helvécio Marins Jr. got his master‘s degree in film from PUC University in Brazil. His films have received more than 50 awards on international and Brazilian film festivals, including Venice, Habana, Nantes, Barcelona, Mar del Plata and Brasilia. They have also been sold to several TV channels around the world. His first feature film Girimunho (Swirl) had its world premiere at the 68th Venice Film Festival, where it received an Interfilm Award. The film was distributed in France, Spain and other countries. In 2012, a retrospective of his work was presented at the Vila do Conde International Short Film Festival in Portugal.
