João Canijo (Portugal)

Since 1998, João Canijo has directed a number of films that have made him one of the most important contemporary Portuguese filmmakers. “In the Darkness of the Night” and “Misbegotten” show his interest in exploring Portuguese identity. “Blood of My Blood” has received critical and public acclaim and has been present at some of the most prestigious festivals. As part of the Estaleiro project, Canijo made the film in Caxinas, a fishing neighborhood in Vila do Conde.
