Martina Parenti makes documentaries for the cinema and television. Among her films, we would like to draw your attention to L’estate di una fontanella (The summer of a drinking fountain, 2006) selected at the Bellaria Film Festival and Animol (2003), presented at the Filmmaker Film Festival. She has made television programmes including School in Action (2006). In 2006, she directed an episode of the collective film Checosamanca (What’s missing).
Together Massimo D’Anolfi and Martina Parenti in 2006 wrote and directed I promessi sposi (The Betrothed), selected at the Locarno Film Festival in ‘Ici & Ailleurs’, the film was awarded at the Festival dei Popoli and at the Filmmaker Film Festival in Milan. In 2009 Grandi speranze (Great Expectations) was also presented at the Locarno Film Festival in ‘Ici & Ailleurs’. Il Castello (The castle), selected in many international festivals (Cinema du reel, Nyon; Hot Docs, Toronto; EIDF, Seoul; RIDM, Montreal; etc…) was awarded at Hot Docs, Toronto with the Special Jury Prize and in EIDF, Seoul with the Special Jury Award, at IDA Awards in Los Angeles with the Prize for the Best Cinematography, at Torino Film Festival with the Premio Speciale della Giuria Italiana.doc and Premio Avanti. In 2013 Materia oscura (Dark Matter) won the Corso Salani Award for Best Work in Progress, it was presented at the Berlinale (Forum) and had a long festival journey, receiving several awards. In 2015 L’Infinita Fabbrica del Duomo (The Never-ending Factory of the Duomo) was premiered at Festival del cinema Locarno and then distributed by Lab80. In 2016 Spira Mirabilis was premiered in competition during Mostra Internazionale d’arte cinematografica di Venezia 73. It is distributed on Italy by IWonder and internationally by The Match Factory. BLU – BLUE (2018), co-produced with Rai Cinema, was premiered during Mostra Internazionale d’arte cinematografica di Venezia 75.
