Jola Wieczorek (Poland)

Jola Wieczorek was born in Poland in 1983 and grew up in Austria. After studying Media Management in St. Pölten and Audiovisual Communication in Barcelona, she worked in Zurich as a production and casting assistant on fiction and commercial films.

In 2012 she received an Erasmus Mundus scholarship to study at DOC Nomads Documentary Film Directing. During the master, that involved studying in Lisbon, Budapest and Brussels, she realized various documentary films that were screened at many international film festivals including Locarno Film Festival, Brussel Short Film Festival and Diagonale. She won the Best Austrian Newcomer Award with her short documentary List do Polski at the Vienna Independet Shorts. Jola is supported with the START-scholarship from the Arts and Culture Division of the Federal Chancellery of Austria and lives in Vienna and Barcelona.
