Sofia Marques was born in 1976. She graduated with a diploma in acting from the Professional Theater Academy of Cascais, Portugal (2003/2004). Sofia directed and produced the documentary film LOOKING THEM CLOSELY in co-production with Comédias do Minho (2010) which premiered in Cinemateca Portuguesa in September 2012. She directed the documentary film 8816 VERSES, produced by Roughcut (2013), which had its world premiere at the 37th São Paulo IFF and its European premiere at Doclisboa’13. She is the founding associate of Sul - Associação Cultural e Artística and works regularly with the Teatro da Cornucópia (Lisboa) since 1996. She has also participated as an actress in more than 30 plays, and several feature length, short films and television series.
