Twelve-year-old Samuel lives on Lampedusa, which has become the destination of thousands of Africans trying to reach Europe. Although the island’s inhabitants are exposed to the raw reality of the humanitarian crisis on a daily basis, the two worlds only rarely come into contact. The film won the Golden Bear for Best Film at Berlinale 2016.
