Crimean Tartars have suffered much. Stalin’s purges and forced deportation kept them away from their homeland for almost 50 years. After their return in 1988, they had little time to enjoy it. Since the 2014 Russia annexation, they again face repression and wonder if it might not be better to leave. The filmmakers accept invitations from several Crimean Tartar families to listen to how deeply today’s events affect them. The film also captures details of daily life, which include such spiteful actions as the repeated cutting off of TV broadcasts. Frequent Skype conversations between those who remained and those who left complete the picture of the past and the present of these Crimean residents who are once again waiting for “this wind to stop”.

This film is not currently online :(

But no worries. There are more just like it in our new programme.
