Antonio is a unique man. He's different and wants to became a musician. He works as a barber and starts to sing his own songs even not knowing nothing about music. He won’t give up on his convictions but due to his eccentricity he is judged by prejudice and disbelief.
It is a story about love, music and fighting for what we believe. Film based in the real life of Portuguese music icon António Variações (1944 - 1984) whose career was abruptly interrupted by AIDS.
Variações retrata a vida de António Ribeiro, barbeiro e figura da movida lisboeta no final dos anos 70, perseguindo o seu sonho de se tornar cantor e compositor, apesar de não saber uma nota de música. O filme foca o processo de transformação na persona de António Variações, artista excêntrico e popular cuja carreira fulgurante foi interrompida pela sua morte em 1984. Variações é uma homenagem a todos os que ainda hoje perseguem os seus sonhos aspirando transformar as suas vidas.
