Selected by Anthony Groussard, Programming Coordinator at DocsMX, for Recommended By...Festivals, a partnership with 11 film festivals from across both North and South America. With this collaboration we chart a course all along the map of the Americas as well as through the contemporary documentary scene.

"The narrative and shocking stories create a captivating documentary which describes the injustice, impunity and horror, stories of broken dreams and disappeared happiness but the overall metaphor of memory is encouraging. The portrait of the Guadalupe community, their destroyed and displaced families, shares a terrifying vision and at the same time transmits a positive message toward seeking justice, hope and shows a collective force and intention to break the cycle of violence in Mexico." - Anthony Groussard

While systematic killings have been going on in Mexico, covered or perpetrated by Mexican government, Carlos Spector, an immigration lawyer in El Paso, Texas, is fighting to obtain political asylum for Mexicans fleeing from violence. The film tells about the need of survivors and their legal spokesperson, Carlos Spector, to rebuild a broken country, to not end up with only the dead, to not lose their memories. To survive in exile.
