The film shows a lonely life of a retired professor of mathematics. Henryk is a hopeless romantic, a hostage of love, Don Juan ready to sacrifice everything, which he has done more than once, in order to find reciprocated love. When, towards the end of the film, the protagonist’s daughter asks him, ‘So what are you going to do now?’, he says, ‘I would like to find a woman, but if it was that simple, there would not be so many unhappy, lonely people’.
