This documentary portrays life in Jasnaja Poljana - a small Russian village in the Kaliningrad region, the former northern East Prussia. After 1945, the Soviet administration populated this area with people from different Soviet republics. Among these new settlers are Mr. and Mrs. Deis who came from Kazakhstan. Like their neighbors, they tried to make the best of the new circumstances. There is Mr. Benz who constructs airplanes and tractors, and there are Nadia and Alexsej who have been living in the area since the 1950s. The villagers talk about their everyday lives, about their origins, their hopes, and their memories.
