The film debut of a theatre director is a kaleidoscope of small events. In the course of one day and one night the lives of a few Brno inhabitants mingle. The young, slightly retarded hero Standa, accompanied by his brother, goes to visit his similarly disabled girlfriend Olinka, with whom he is preparing to stay the night. While the young couple manage to carry out the plan despite various complications, the more experienced couple in the story fail to make love.
