Factory workers, engineers and women in the fields move through the routines of socialist Hungary. But the voices we hear do not belong to them. Tamás Szentjóby replaces their speech with philosophical, absurd and often grotesque dialogues, carefully matched to the movements of their mouths. The result is a radical collision of documentary observation and fiction, exposing the emptiness of official rhetoric and the alienation of everyday labour under the Kádár regime.
