Four films, four editions. We're bringing DOK Leipzig to your living room this month, with four essential films from the previous four iterations of the festival that toy with the question of truth/untruth in documentary.

Confident, narcissistic, 24/7 on YouTube, the star of Lord of the Toys mixes brandy and gambling bouts in his videos, things that are smart or just silly enough to laugh at. “At least the audience likes it. They imitate it and that’s the goal.”
Meanwhile, in the circus tent named Joy, the same thing happens every day – the performers put up and take apart the structure itself, give performances, and move on to the next city. Lynx and parrot trainers quarrel over every little thing, and Valera the clown always performs alone. One day a new partner joins him, the clown Yana. Suddenly their big dreams start to combine.
One nut alone doesn’t make a sound when you carry it in your pocket. But many nuts clatter. And so the small community where nine-year-old Siddharta, for whom filmmakers Damiano Giacomelli and Lorenzo Raponi named their film, lives with his 65-year-old father Fabrizio calls itself “Noci Sonanti”, the “Ringing Nuts”. The two of them live without electricity or any of the comforts of civilisation in a house situated in a remote Italian region.
A mother, Tatiana, and a daughter, Valentina, live in a boring, provincial town of Zhiguljovsk 1000 kilometers south-east of Moscow. Valentina, 22 years old, works in a vodka factory, Tatiana, 50, is a bus conductor. To make her dream a reality, Valentina has to move to Moscow, leaving 5-year-old Danilo in Tatiana’s care.
