Perú in Focus: Contemporary Cinema

An overview of several of the most stimulating and diverse Peruvian documentary films of recent years, presented in partnership with Andares: Acciones Cinematográficas. In this program, we will get up close and personal with fragile creatures from urban Lima (Perpetual Person), in places where experimental sounds emerge from the margins. Likewise, musically, Andean women empower themselves, asserting a vernacular identity as a way of life (Teloneras), an expression of joy that contrasts with the sorrow and mourning of others (Soldier's Woman).

Crossing the Amazon River, the Peruvian jungle not only further diversifies the colors of the country but also houses several of its enigmas (Veins of the Amazon). And, well, all that multicultural cinematographic memory that should be protected and shared in movie theaters is gradually being lost with the unstoppable closure and oblivion of those precious spaces (Neighborhood Cinemas).
