Czech Centres, in cooperation with selected universities and film festivals, present a special program of animated film collections, which pay tribute to contemporary Czech animation. Animation has always belonged to the family silver of Czech(oslovak) cinematography and it still occupies this position, as evidenced by the international attention and awards which contemporary animated works receive. Let us also remind you that this year we will celebrate 120 years since the birth of Hermína Týrlová, who was at the birth of Czechoslovakian animated film.
This collection will start with a set of short animations for children prepared by Zlín Film Festival – International Film Festival for Children and Youth. This set is made of short animations for children that were once part of the festival competitions and which should remind original festival dates (May 29 - June 6). Zlín Film Festival is the oldest and largest film festival of its kind in the world. ZFF celebrates its 60th edition exceptionally from September 4 to 10, 2020.
Zlín Film Festival will be followed by a program of selection of student animated films made at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art in Pilsen, the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, FAMU and Tomas Bata University in Zlín.
