Known as one of the largest documentary film festivals in Central and Eastern Europe, Ji.hlava IDFF is set to take place online this year from 27 October to 8 November. Over the next few days, we’ll be bringing you exclusive festival content. You can watch our diverse program of selected films from the competition sections, film experiments, and special thematic sections.
Every year, the festival presents a wide range of creative documentaries from both Central and Eastern Europe and worldwide. In its regular and accompanying sections, you’ll find a selection of the best in world cinema. This year whilst in digital asylum, the festival aims to inspire film and provoke discussion on today's hot topics. One of the main themes that will run through the festival’s sections this year will be that of “Home.” At a time when the festival itself was forced to leave its hometown of Jihlava (Czech Republic) due to the pandemic, this topic is becoming all the more important. What does home mean to us? What does it feel like to return home? What causes alienation? And this is only just the beginning of what you can expect from this year’s festival program.
You can look forward to a new selection of films every week during the festival. The first batch of films will be available to watch until 1 November while the second selection will be available until 8 November.
