Leylakhanim Ganbarli is an Azerbaijani filmmaker and visual artist working across documentary and mixed media. She pursued film education in Azerbaijan and Turkey. Her practice explores memory, identity, and personal histories through intimate, character-driven storytelling.
Her films have been presented at international festivals including Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival, Cinedoc Tbilisi, and IAWRT Asian Women’s Film Festival. Her debut short documentary A Butcher’s Daughter (2021) received a Special Jury Mention at the DokuBaku International Documentary Film Festival.
Alongside filmmaking, she works in visual arts, including painting and collage. Her work was exhibited in the group exhibition SAFEZONE in 2023. She is also involved in film education initiatives, collaborating with Sevil International Women’s Documentary Film Festival as a trainer in the DokAtelye workshop.
