Alina Maksimenko, an artist born in Kiev, Ukraine. A film director, director of photography, a painter. During the years 1985 - 1988 she studied in T.G. Shevchenko Art School. She graduated from Kiev Art. College of M. Boychuk, documentary film directing at class of Sergey Bukovsky, Radio Broadcasting and Press Institute, and from Wajda School’s DOK PRO programme. Her interest in documentary film had started in 2014 with her first exibit of the video installation at the Kiev Arsenal. Her short doc, “Ptitsa” (2022), received the Main Award at It’s All True! IDFF, it was awarded with the Andrei Matrosov Award at Docudays UA and the Award for Best Direction at Astra Film Festival. Her feature documentary debut, “W zawieszeniu” (In Limbo, 2024), premiered at the international competition of Visions du Reel.
