Videograms Of A Revolution

In December 1989 crowds of Romanian protesters overthrew the communist regime of Nicolae Ceausescu, who was then sentenced to death by a military court and he and his wife were executed soon after. A blurry recording of the execution and the blood stains of the deceased were soon aired on televisions around the world. This film essay uses video-recordings filmed by activists and material from the archives of state television, which, once it was occupied by demonstrators, became their main refuge and weapon. Drawing on the example of the first TV revolution the film analyses the phenomenon of the changing images in television news and its clear political emphases.
