Tracing the thematic pathways that lead up to the latest edition of the London-based Open City Documentary Festival.
Open City Documentary Festival creates an open space in London to nurture and champion the art of non-fiction cinema. As the festival concludes its 2022 edition, we trace a series of thematic and cinematic pathways through this year’s main programme, with a selection of films that echo with the festival's recent past.
Two early works by 2022 Filmmaker in Focus, Alexandra Cuesta, feature alongside highlights from previous editions by artists and filmmakers including Maddi Barber, Onyeka Igwe, Zhang Mengqi, Hope Strickland, Maryam Tafakory, Ana Vaz, Bo Wang and Pan Lu, many of whom presented new work at the festival in London this year.
