What new documentary talents rose to prominence this year? The programmers and directors of seven key European documentary festivals put their heads together to select seven significant documentary works that they felt really shined at this year's festivals. In an exclusive release, we hereby present to you a curated selection of films nominated for this year’s Doc Alliance Selection Award.
Doc Alliance is not only the driving force behind DAFilms, but this association comprised of seven major European documentary festivals also does everything in its power to highlight the future stars of documentary cinema. Each of the seven festivals nominates one exceptional documentary that was screened at their festival this year. Out of these seven films nominated for the Doc Alliance Selection, a judging panel comprised of leading European journalists will then choose the best film.
Under normal circumstances, the Doc Alliance Selection Winner would be announced in person at Cannes Film Festival. But this year, things are different. With the cancellation of the festival on the French Riviera, we’ve decided to present this year’s nominated films online and also announce the best film. Be sure to tune in on December 14th from 6pm (CET) when we will announce the winner. You don’t want to miss it! You can watch the live stream on this page or under the Facebook event.
