Two twins were separated at birth and grew up in Helsinki and Amsterdam without knowing each other, as part of a scientific experiment. The result is incredible: they have both become artists as adults, one is now older than the other - and they have maintained a mysterious telepathic connection, which a female scientist (Kati Outinen, known from Aki Kaurismäki's films) documents from an obscure 'time laboratory' in Finland. All in an eccentric and experimental work, which in fact is an adaptation of sorts of the great Icelandic artist Hreinn Fridfinnson's thoughts about the relationship between time and memory. A piece of conceptual 'science fiction' in the literal sense of the words: a what-if experiment, which speculates further on Fridfinnson's ideas. And which does so in beautiful 16mm takes, whose grainy aesthetics indirectly point to the 1970s and to the period's radical thoughts about the relationship between individual and environment. The two Icelandic filmmakers Gestsdóttir and Andrésson invite us to invent our part of the story, whose cryptical rules don't lie in the way of a both melancholy, warm and witty tale.
