For the next few weeks, we are happy to present some of the true highlights of the Locarno Filmmakers Academy, all by female filmmakers who have taken part in the workshop over the past 10 years.
We have partnered with the team behind the prestigious Filmmakers Academy at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland on a selection of films by female filmmakers who have taken part in the workshop since its founding. This special focus on the history of the workshop features mostly short films from a diverse range of female voices and backgrounds, marking a genuinely unique collaboration between our platform and one of the most renowned young filmmaker workshops in the world. These films in their own way point towards a more hopeful future for young filmmakers, and indeed many of these artists have gone on to produce work on an even greater canvas. Here we give these early films a new home, its filmmakers a lasting income from their work, and connects these films with new audiences for the future.
